Taking advantage of its access to its medley of related information services from news to blogs, Google on Tuesday introduced Google Finance, a beta web site that offers much of the same data as Yahoo and Microsoft, but also provides information on many privately held companies.

VeriSign announced an acquisition of m-Cube for $250 million. According to reports, Motricity was competing with VeriSign over the purchase. m-Cube facilitates mobile billing for companies through premium SMS. It racked up $84 million in revenue last year and has companies like CBS, Major League Baseball and Virgin Mobile as customers. More on this over here.

Verisign acquired privately held Kontiki, which makes applications for distributing digital media over broadband networks, for $62 million, the company announced on Monday.More on this can be found here.
